In Niger, authorities revoked the license of the French humanitarian organization ACTED, which has been operating in the impoverished African country since 2009. Special attention was given by the organization to refugees from the conflict in Niger. The Niger Ministry of Interior announced that the license of the non-governmental organization ACTED was revoked as of yesterday, without stating the reason for this action. The license was also revoked for another non-governmental organization, AIBEBE.
The humanitarian organization ACTED has actively worked in Niger, particularly in assisting refugees, and its operations were halted immediately after the license was revoked. Such actions of the Nigerien authorities may create tensions in relations between the authorities and former colonizers, in this case - France. Meanwhile, the official reason for the revocation of the license was not announced by the Nigerien authorities.
