The Nigerien military regime on Saturday «rejected with the strongest possible expressions» accusations of «theft», following the opening of an investigation in Paris into an organized theft linked to the disappearance of uranium from a site previously operated by Orano.
The regime's statement claims that these accusations are part of a disinformation campaign against the country. Nigerien authorities emphasize their commitment to the rule of law and readiness to cooperate with international bodies to clarify the circumstances of the case.
Orano, for its part, confirmed the disappearance of uranium from its site in Niger and stated that it is conducting its own internal investigation to determine the causes of the incident.
